Artist Statement
I created this series as something to pass on to my children. Soon after giving birth to my son, Leonardo, in 2016 and again to my daughter, Lakshmi, in 2019, I’d found myself suffering from postpartum depression and judging myself in front of them as unworthy and undeserving.
My dad then reminded me that I often felt that way for most of my life despite all the challenges I’d personally overcome and the things I’d accomplished. He said it was somehow part of my DNA from past lives (he believes in reincarnation) but that it didn’t need to stay that way.
I simply could not allow my children to carry on those same sentiments. If I am to be their role model, that change had to start with me.
So, this series represents my process of self-healing as I continue to be a work-in-progress.
My children are ABSOLUTELY worthy by the very fact that they exist, and so am I.
If they believe “I Am Love”, then so shall I.
